HMO fire risk assessment work for registered assessors

Landlords of houses in multiple occupation need a fire risk assessment of the shared areas, reviewed regularly, and councils ask for one at licensing. RentalComply sends you those bookings from landlords and letting agents in the area you cover, at the price you set.

Requirements

What you'll need to join

Fire risk assessor registration

Registration as a competent fire risk assessor. HMO fire risk assessments must be carried out by a competent person.

Accepted: Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), FRACS (Warringtonfire), BAFE SP205, NAFRAR, Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), FPA

You upload: Fire risk assessor registration certificate

  • Photo ID

A passport or driving licence, so we can confirm who you are.

  • DBS certificate

Valid for 3 years from the issue date. We remind you before it runs out. Team businesses provide one for each person who attends jobs.

  • Public liability insurance

At least £2 million of cover. For a team, the policy must cover your staff and subcontractors, or each person needs their own cover.

  • A UK bank account

Connected through Stripe, so we can pay your earnings each week.

You must be on a recognised register of competent fire risk assessors, and give us your registration renewal date so we can keep it in date. Each person who attends a job must personally hold the accreditation for that service. Read the full engineer agreement.

How you get work

From booking to payment

  1. 1

    A landlord searches their postcode

Landlords, letting agents and homeowners enter the property postcode and the service they need.

  2. 2

They see you if you cover the area

They see your profile, price, reviews and distance if the property is within your travel radius.

  3. 3

    They book, and you accept

They choose a free slot from your availability and their card is held. You get a notification and have up to 12 hours to accept - accepting charges the customer and confirms the job.

  4. 4

You do the job and upload the certificate

Message the customer through the platform if you need to. Upload the certificate when the job is done, and it is paid the following Monday.

How many jobs you get depends on demand in your area, your prices and your reviews. We don't promise a set number of jobs.

FAQs

Questions from fire risk assessors

Which registrations do you accept?

Registration with a recognised body, such as Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), FRACS (Warringtonfire), BAFE SP205, NAFRAR, Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) or FPA. You give us your registration number and certificate.

What happens when my registration is due for renewal?

You add your renewal date when you apply, and an expired registration can't be approved. When you renew, upload the new certificate from your dashboard to keep your details up to date.

Who issues the assessment?

You do. You carry out the assessment, write it up with its action plan as you normally would, then upload it to the booking so the landlord has it in their dashboard.

Does it cost anything to join RentalComply?

No. Joining is free, with no subscription or lead fees. Our fee is added on top of your price and paid by the customer, so you receive the full price you set.

How and when do I get paid?

Customers are charged when you accept their booking. Once you complete a job and upload its certificate, the payment goes to your bank through Stripe in the Monday payout run. If you upload the certificate after that Monday's run, the job is paid the Monday after.

How do I get jobs?

Landlords and agents search by postcode and book engineers whose travel radius covers the property. They choose a slot from the availability you set, and you accept the booking request from your dashboard within 12 hours. We can't promise a set number of jobs. It depends on demand in your area and on your prices and reviews.

How long does verification take?

Our team usually reviews new engineers within 1–2 business days of a complete application. We check your accreditation with the scheme provider and review your insurance, DBS and ID.

Ready to take on local compliance jobs?

It's free to apply. Have your accreditation, insurance, DBS and photo ID to hand, and you can finish in one go.
