For electricians

EICR and PAT testing work for qualified electricians

Landlords in England must have their rental property's electrics inspected at least every five years, and many letting agents book PAT testing with them. RentalComply sends you those bookings at the price you set, in the area you choose to cover.

The work

Jobs you can take

  • Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) on rented homes, priced by property size
  • PAT testing of landlord-supplied appliances
  • Commercial work, if you choose to offer it
Requirements

What you'll need to join

Inspection & testing qualification

A Level 3 inspection and testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391-52, to carry out EICRs on rental properties.

Accepted: City & Guilds 2391-52, City & Guilds 2391-50, City & Guilds 2391-51, City & Guilds 2394 & 2395, EAL Level 3 Inspection & Testing

Competent person scheme (optional): NICEIC, NAPIT, ELECSA, Stroma Certification, Certsure

You upload: Inspection & testing (2391-52) certificate

PAT testing qualification

A recognised portable appliance testing qualification, or membership of an electrical scheme.

Accepted: City & Guilds 2377, NICEIC, NAPIT, EAL Level 3 PAT

You upload: PAT qualification certificate

  • Photo ID

A passport or driving licence, so we can confirm who you are.

  • DBS certificate

Valid for 3 years from the issue date. We remind you before it runs out. Team businesses provide one for each person who attends jobs.

  • Public liability insurance

At least £2 million of cover. For a team, the policy must cover your staff and subcontractors, or each person needs their own cover.

  • A UK bank account

Connected through Stripe, so we can pay your earnings each week.

You only offer the services you are qualified for. An electrician with PAT testing but no inspection and testing qualification can offer PAT testing alone. Each person who attends a job must personally hold the accreditation for that service. Read the full engineer agreement.

Landlords, letting agents and homeowners enter the property postcode and the service they need.

They see your profile, price, reviews and distance if the property is within your travel radius.

FAQs

Questions from electricians

What qualification do I need to do EICRs through RentalComply?

A Level 3 inspection and testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391-52, City & Guilds 2391-50 or City & Guilds 2391-51. Membership of a competent person scheme such as NICEIC, NAPIT or ELECSA is optional, but we record it on your profile if you have it.

Can I offer PAT testing without doing EICRs?

Yes. Each service is approved separately, so you can offer PAT testing alone with a recognised PAT qualification, or both services if you hold both qualifications.

Who writes and signs the EICR?

The electrician who carried out the inspection issues and signs the report, then uploads it to the booking. The landlord receives it in their dashboard.

Does it cost anything to join RentalComply?

No. Joining is free, with no subscription or lead fees. Our fee is added on top of your price and paid by the customer, so you receive the full price you set.

How and when do I get paid?

Customers pay when they book. Once you complete a job and upload its certificate, the payment goes to your bank through Stripe in the Monday payout run. If you upload the certificate after that Monday's run, the job is paid the Monday after.

How do I get jobs?

Landlords and agents search by postcode and book engineers whose travel radius covers the property. They choose a slot from the availability you set and pay online, and the booking appears in your dashboard straight away. We can't promise a set number of jobs. It depends on demand in your area and on your prices and reviews.

How long does verification take?

Our team usually reviews new engineers within 1–2 business days of a complete application. We check your accreditation with the scheme provider and review your insurance, DBS and ID.

Ready to take on local compliance jobs?

It's free to apply. Have your accreditation, insurance, DBS and photo ID to hand, and you can finish in one go.
